Alex Johnson coordinates breaking news and feature Web projects for NBC News and its affiliated local stations, MSNBC and NBC News Channel. As a reporter for msnbc.com, he covered the 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns, post-Sept. 11 security issues, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and issues of ethics and values in American culture. He has been a writer and editor for a variety of publications, including The Washington Post, Congressional Quarterly, the Knight-Ridder/Tribune Washington service and The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer, as well as washingtonpost.com, for which he wrote an internationally syndicated column on world soccer. A graduate of the University of Georgia, he has taught writing and editing at the University of South Carolina and Johnson C. Smith University.
