The relationship between Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor and Miami executive vice president Bill Parcells continues to wither, according to the Miami Herald.
The 11-year veteran recently became incensed with Parcells during a visit to team headquarters, the newspaper reported. After chatting with teammates, Taylor stopped by to talk with Parcells, who was watching tape, but Parcells ignored Taylor without speaking a word to him.
The rift between the two began shortly after Parcells joined the front office in December.
During the offseason, Taylor moved to Hollywood to pursue a show-business career and landed a spot on "Dancing With The Stars." He accepted it without asking Parcells for his opinion or permission, the newspaper said.
Taylor knew the show commitments would keep him from Miami's voluntary offseason conditioning program, but he went anyway.
This enraged Parcells, according to the newspaper, because, in his eyes, Taylor should be a leader of the team and skipping workouts is not the kind of leadership the Dolphins want.
According to the Herald, Parcells and Taylor have barely spoken to one another this offseason.
Despite efforts to trade Taylor leading up to the NFL draft, he remains on the team's roster.
"We took some calls earlier in the week," general manager Jeff Ireland said Sunday. "But nothing's changed on that. Nothing's changed. We want the guy back."
